Buying a car is overwhelming experience in America

Buying a car is overwhelming experience in America if you want to get a best deal. Car salesmen are trained these days to pressure cook you into buying a car at high price ( and low ball your trade-in car). Most of the prices mentioned on the dealer websites are inflated, and can be lowered further. A dealer will never let you know the best price for a car if you ask for a quote online. They want you to be there at the dealership to give best price; so they have some control over bargain as opposed to online bargain. So how to buy a car at the cheapest price?

Ask everyone your know.
From my experience its always best to get opinions and price from friends who own the same car model you are researching. However be careful as most of the trusted members don't like to tell you if they have a bad car. That's because sometimes as humans we don't want to be seen as stupid person who buys without any research or a spend on impulse. Everyone says theirs the best car.

Check third party websites like TrueCar.com
I'm not endorsing this website but in my opinion this is best way to find out a bargain price for a certain car in your area. This is helpful because cars unlike other commodities do not have fixed sales tag. The price varies 10-20% based on year, model, and of course your bargain.

So many make and models
There are more than 50 brands of car makers in USA. Make sure you test drive most of brands of cars in the sections you are looking for. When my SUV was getting 10 years old, i decided to buy a new car since i had to manage so many problems with old cars. I decided to initially test drive top 5 SUV brands (Honda CRV, Toyota Rav-4, Nissan Rogue & Murano, Hyundai Santa FE, and Mazda CX-5), and concluded almost all of them consume quite a bit Gas. This time i wanted a economical car that can transport me around without skyrocketing my gas bills, and also saving me Garage expenses. After months of research and frustration i decided to check out for sedans because as they give good gas mileage, and have nicer driving feel while taking turns unlike SUV that feel like a Elevator. Always keep a open minded budget, sometimes its better to get a expensive car than to compromise on features. Sometime features in car can be really useful though they cost more.

Avoid car accessories from dealerships
Be careful with over-priced factory installed car accessories dealerships try to make you buy. Ask for basic car without accessories, and you can get accessories installed from outside for lesser price.

Buy current year model
If you are buying around September-November always do your research about next year vehicle. Sometime car brands come up with tiny ditty-bitty features for next model. You may choose to buy current year model if the features aren't extra-ordinary for next year. That can save you at-least $1000-$2000.
